| STUDIA ANTHROPONYMICA SCANDINAVICA is the only journal in the world specializing in personal names research. It was founded in 1983 by Thorsten Andersson and Lena Peterson, and has since 2001 been edited by Eva Brylla and Lena Peterson, Uppsala, together with co-editors in Denmark, Finland and Norway. It appears once a year, a typical issue comprising around 180 pages. Most of the articles are written in the Scandinavian languages, but contributions in English and German also appear. Articles written in the Scandinavian languages are accompanied by summaries in English. Submitted manuscripts are peer-rewieved by one or two anonymous referees who are independent of the editorial board. STUDIA ANTHROPONYMICA SCANDINAVICA is intended as a scholarly forum for contributions in the various fields of research on personal names, including etymology, phonology, semantics, history, sociology and stylistics. It aims to contribute to a discussion of methodology and terminology, as well as to emphasize the affinities between personal names research and other branches of the humanities, such as demography, ethnology, genealogy, history, literature, psychology and religion. STUDIA ANTHROPONYMICA SCANDINAVICA has a clear Nordic emphasis. It endeavours to examine personal names in all the Nordic countries and, in addition, the dissemination and destinies of Nordic personal names outside the Nordic region, both in the past and in modern times. The journal's Nordic approach is such that it not only takes into account the Scandinavian languages, but also considers personal names in the other native languages of the Nordic countries, Finnish and Sami. STUDIA ANTHROPONYMICA SCANDINAVICA includes a comprehensive review section, covering not only Nordic, but also international literature in the field of personal names research. |
